Although Samsung and LG Display in Korea currently dominate the global OLED panel market, Chinese tablet manufacturers, including Beijing Oriental, National Star Photovoltaic (CSOT), Hehui Photovoltaic, Vicino, Shinli Photovoltaic, Tianma Microelectronics, Kunshan Guoxian Photovoltaic and Rouyu Technologies, have entered the industry one after another.
Sources said that in 2019, as more and more OLED panel production lines begin to be commercialized, Taiwan's COF packaging service providers for OLED driver IC, including Qiabang Technology and Nanmao Technology, will receive more orders from the above-mentioned Chinese panel manufacturers.
According to the sources of Qiabang Science and Technology and Nanmao Science and Technology, COF will replace COG (glass cladding) technology in 2019 and become the mainstream packaging technology of OLED driver IC for small smartphone panel.
Wah Lee Industrial, a semiconductor material supplier, expects sales to continue to grow by nearly 20% in the second half of the year due to growing demand for related OLED devices and materials, according to sources.
Driven by its established distribution channels in China, sales of Wah Lee's OLED business line increased by 2.5 times in the first half of 2018 alone, which also shows China's strong demand for related OLED products.
